Christian nationalism
Christian nationalism is Christianity-affiliated religious nationalism. Christian nationalists focus primarily on internal politics, such as passing laws that reflect their view of Christianity and its role in political and social life. They are actively promoting religious (Christian) and nationalistic discourses in various fields of social life, from Politics and History, to Culture and Science. In Europe and the United States, Christian nationalism ranges from conservative to far right-wing.

I became alienated from the "religious right" churches under Bush II, the "preemptive strike years", seeing differences in their politics from what Jesus taught. And Christian Nationalism seems to fall in line with my other post about the problems with Millennial theories calling for a physical kingdom in place of the spiritual kingdom, one not of this world, that Jesus preached.
Any thoughts or criticism appreciated.

Your post reminds me of a debate we held frequently in American politics in previous decades, but not nearly so often these days: the debate as to whether the United States is a "Christian nation." I've long believed that we're a nation of Christians - by which I mean Christianity is the religion of a large majority of our nation's citizens - but not a Christian nation - by which I mean there is nothing exclusively Christian about our nation's mission, vision, values, or organizational structure.
I've never grown comfortable with "the religious right" as a demographic identity because to me it seems to communicate the political right's hegemony over the religious landscape of the nation. We on the left aid the notion that all "religious" people in the country lean "right" in their politics because we don't tend so publicly to pair our politics and our faith (there is no "religious left").
"Christian nationalism" is an interesting topic, Dave. Thanks.

Bill,
American has a role in providing freedom to oppressed peoples in view of world history. For this reason, "God bless America!" There are many Christians in America's bowels but it doesn't make her as a nation Christian. See the Bible for the life and teachings of Jesus. Followers of his life are the essence of Christianity. As for the "Christian Right" as a group or organization, they are a bunch of spiritual prostitutes, turning religious tricks for political favors. Especially, in view of Mr. Trump, they are hypocritically blinded while aiding and abetting an organization that's encouraging and cradles instruments of war and death. All under the guise of an outdated Second Amendment. In addition, they have the mitigating gall to speak out of the same mouth and the same pulpit about being pro-life. The mendacity of their speech is miasma to a pregnant woman who is allergic to the smell of eggs.
Having selective morality in favor of a man (Mr. Trump) who have demonstrated a disregard for the truth, order, process, and compassion for the most vulnerable in American Society. For whom does America stand? How long must she put up with the deterioration of government institutions before her very eyes?
Sad as this situation may be, God is still in charge. It is He who set up kings and takes them down. God honors a people's choice; even if to her detriment. At the same time, He bestows grace and mercy upon all. God never intended for America to be a "Christian Nation", this side of the return of Christ. America is only a "way station" for God to prepare a people for his return/eternity. CM
PS. I am not anti-American. I am for Christ. CM

Thanks for the reply. What could become an interesting topic would be the "Left" or "Right" leanings of Jesus and the early church. To which American political party would they tilt mostly towards?
For instants, eating from the corners of the cornfields was the part of the OT Welfare system.
The church in Acts practiced Communism but differed from worldly Communism. Abraham Kuiper explains that Jerusalem "communism" says "what's mine is yours." Modern communism says "what's yours is mine." etc. etc.
Is Socialism more "Christian" than Capitalism?

In a word, yes.

Could you tell me who had been oppressing those Indian tribes and how oppressed they were? When, where and in which manner did "American" provide freedom to them ?
I don't think I need to list the more recent examples of "oppressed people" who were provided freedom by having their countries bombed to shreds, occupied by US military forces, etc ??Do you really think that what was provided by "American" was freedom to oppressed people"? How long do you want to believe lies instead of opening eyes to plain obvious truths?

Wolfgang,
I made reference to God's intent for America, not that she fulfilled her purpose as designed. Yes, they mistreated the American Indians terribly. History verifies this independent of me. You can "list the more recent examples of "oppressed people" in the US. This way others can see that others, see what others, refuses to see. I am not here to defend America. Her action or lack of actions speak for themselves. A recent example, chemical attack in Syria. What is Mr. Trump going to do?Let the truth be told, America has a higher calling upon her by God, than she has demonstrated over the life of her existence. This is why the American People, the Christians in particular, who they elect as its leader. America has done many good things over her life and yet, she houses many skeletons; made missteps; justified slavery; made many bad laws; and show a proclivity to constantly rape the soil and pollute the environment. It has made a mess and yet it's blessed. Like many Christians and other countries, America isn't where she needs to be, but she's not where she was. e.g. Germany, etc. CM

Anyone taking a look should realize very quickly that there is nothing "special" about the USA, except that it (its ruling powers) has displayed rather non-Christian evil as the examples throughout its history prove.

What is there to defend? Supporting terrorists even to the point of supplying them with chemical weapons in an attempt to overthrow the elected government (because it doesn't want to submit to the plans of the US hegemon's ideas about how and where certain oil pipelines should go? and when the secret terrorists' chemical weapons depot is hit in an attack by the Syrian army, blame them for having used chemical weapons? Over the weekend rumors about another chemical attack in a terrorist area in Syria ... fake video clips by "white helmets" terrorist helpers supposedly proving something ?
I sure hope Mr. Trump does nothing ... unfortunately, he is no longer in control, the real powers seem to rule just as they would have if the other candidate had won the electionsLet the truth be told, America has a higher calling upon her by God, than she has demonstrated over the life of her existence.
Did God Himself tell you this, or where does such a naughty haughty idea come from?

I don't get what you are trying to communicate with this statement ....

I think any Us vs Them pride is sin. “And [God] hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;” (Acts 17:26) (KJV 1900)
This goes back to what I said in an earlier post about the home team fans chasing the opposing team fans in order to fight. Had you switched any of them at birth, they would still be at it, only on the other side.

I didn't say all of that. Not better, but more responsible, a different role on the world's stage and therefore history.

You know more about it than I do.

Check the history books of America's "so-called discovery", opportunities and religious freedom. Review the genesis of America in the context of World history will give a better sense of my reference point. I don't need to recall it all here. A little research, you'll get it.

It shows growth, change, and yet, a long ways to go to further improvement.

Many countries, Germany and America, in particular, have very brutal and ugly past-- historical facts. They need to learn from it an don't repeat it. In short, their citizenries must be careful whom they select as the leader. CM
