I think Lennox answers well. But churches have a bloody history to overcome that skeptics can draw from. And use against us to find scriptures that otherwise would be understood metaphorically. Given their history, some of the most dangerous people in the word today make up the historic Institutional Churches and much of Evangelicalism.
I think if we feature the Amish, Brethren and Mennonites, we can use them as examples to counter the damage done by these.
