Clarence Larkin, the great illustrator of prophetic truths who turned out to be involved in pyramidology was part of the Pre-Trib Rapture teachings. Clarence Larkin, a mechanical engineer, an architect by profession supported the work of Scofield and Dispensationalism increased in momentum with the publication of his chart-laden ‘Dispensational Truth’ published in 1918.
Although not the recipient of any formal theological training, Larkin was ordained into the ministry at the age of thirty-four after a career in business. At the time of his ordination, Larkin was not a Premillennialist but subsequently adopted the Futurist view (See Varner).
Larkin revealed that the material used for his charts in his Futurist ‘Dispensationalism’, “in its present form...originated at the end of the sixteenth century with the Jesuit Ribera” (See Larkin).
“Revelation 18 is, in some ways, a mirror image of Revelation 17, they are two sides of the same coin.” Babylon is portrayed as a prostitute in Revelation 17, while she becomes the Great City in Revelation 18. Larkin viewed these chapters as two different Babylons. CM
