How did the USA become so disunited?

Perhaps some will read what the author wrote in his article quoted below ... and "give it a think". Others may refuse to read it ... others perhaps will reject what he writes as not being true, despite the facts that can be seen in the linked video clips
Prior to the Democrats becoming the anti-American political party of Identity Politics, whites, blacks, and Puerto Ricans could laugh at themselves and at one another. Dean Martin turned a roast, in which good humored fun is poked at a prominent person, into mass entertainment. That blacks were equal opportunity targets was testimony to the success of black entertainers and athletes. In the humorless world of today, these roasts would be considered “hurtful,” “offensive,” and “hate crimes.”
Americans had to be trained to this new mentality. It was done in order to break us apart as a people, and it has succeeded. Recently, in response to overwrought reactions to youthful blackface experiences of current Virginia Democratic politicians, I posted a Dean Martin roast of Sammy Davis Jr. and asked if Davis was a self-hating black for permitting himself to be ridiculed on stage before a large audience. https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2019/02/07/was-sammy-davis-jr-a-self-hating-black/
The younger generation has been programmed to see Sammy Davis’ roast as a ‘step-and-fetch-it” black being ridiculed for white entertainment. That many of those roasting Sammy Davis were themselves black and Sammy Davis was a very successful multi-millionaire entertainer does not affect the modern perception of the event. I wonder if they see Ronald Reagan as a self-hating white: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve1z48hljYY
Muhammad Ali, a justifiably proud American, was pleased to be an honored roastee and gave as good as he received. Everyone knew it was all in fun. No one in his right mind would really insult the heavyweight champion of the world while standing next to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC4MJhqJf4E&t=2s
The race and gender hatreds instilled by identity Politics have not only produced a humorless country but also a disunited country. Unity has been destroyed by the Democratic Party’s Identity Politics, and the absence of unity precludes any restoration of American greatness by President Trump.
Identity Politics gives us not only fake news but also fake history. Histories have been made up in order to instill a victim consciousness in women and blacks, the better to teach gender and racial hatreds. The hopes of the civil rights movement for an integrated and unified country are being defeated. Once unity is shattered, all the king’s horses and all the king’s men can’t put unity back together again. American society is headed for a split as serious as the Shiite and Sunni.

And again, Wolfgang, you turn to an outside source to express your point of view. I've asked you this before, but didn't get a response, so I'll ask again: Wasn't there a time when you regularly advised other posters not to quote sources at length to express their own points of view, but rather to use their own words in their posts? Don't I accurately recall that on many occasions in CD threads you've chided other posters by saying that if you wanted to read other authorities, you would do so on your own time?
As to the latest P.C. Roberts piece, my overall reaction is that Mr Roberts need to buy a calendar. For when he does, he will note that we now live in the year 2019, some 44 years after the debut of the Dean Martin roast of Sammy Davis Jr to which he provides a Youtube link. And if Mr Roberts reflects for a moment about what has happened to American culture in the last 44 years, he will likely acknowledge that things have changed considerably. Among the prominent changes our culture has experienced is that we no longer deem to be "funny" some of what we judged as "funny" back then - for example: "black face" dress and making jokes about people based on the color of their skin or their ethnic or national heritage. Yes, that used to be funny; we used to laugh at those portrayals of people of color. But that was then. We no longer live back then; we live today. Today we no longer consider such portrayals funny.
We've grown up. We've figured out that such portrayals - making fun of people based on the color of their skin or their national/ethnic heritage - is wrong and is rooted in societal power differentials - i.e. racism. Want evidence? Invite Mr Roberts to give us Youtube links to Dean Martin roasts of Caucasian persons that were based on their skin color. (SPOILER ALERT: Be prepared for a lengthy wait) Show us evidence of the cultural impact and prominence of "white face" dress in America. (SPOILER ALERT: Don't expect much)
Slavery used to be legal in America; it's not anymore. Women not having the right to vote used to be the law of the land in America; it's not anymore. Humor based on skin color and ethnic stereotypes used to be acceptable in America; it's not anymore. Mr Roberts and those who endorse his views as expressed in this column need to buy a calendar, then do the math: It used to be 1975 in America; it's not anymore.

Here we go again, drinking from broken cisterns of contaminated social norms. Old habits are hard to break. Wolfgang is at it again, Sad. CM

I don't think that Roberts needs a calendar ...because his article emphasizes exactly what you claim he did not even recognize => a radical change !1 You may like that change and regard as some kind of a positive development and improvement, he doesn't and considers the opposite to be the case.
WHen looking at Identity and gender politics and the development seen in the USA and others USA influenced vassal countries (such as Germany) over recent decades, I notice devastating effects as well on the culture, language, morals of many places in the wake of the USA regime driven global hegemonism
