Please read the whole post. Take off the blinders. I don't know if you're unable or unwilling, Mr. Reformed, to read a post with comprehension. Therefore, any comments are tainted with biases, causes one to question your credibility. You may not care, but that's your right to do so. Even if you feel I have stated a point in error, please show a reasonable, albeit, a minimal degree of scholarship. If you find this embarrassing, I apologize in advance, but my point calls for immediate attention. Thanks. CM

It doesn't take scholarship to quote you and call you out when you say you said something in the quote that you in fact did not.

White House Wants to Deny Green Cards to Immigrants Who Receive Public Benefits

By DANIEL POLITI-- SEPT 23, 201811:00 AM

Protesters take part in a Solidarity Rally Against Deportation at Foley Square near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), office on March 9, 2017 in New York City.
Protesters take part in a Solidarity Rally Against Deportation at Foley Square near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), office on March 9, 2017 in New York City.

The Trump administration is continuing its effort to restrict immigration, this time by proposing a new set of rules that could deny green cards to legal immigrants who receive public benefits. The new rules could affect those who receive food assistance, housing vouchers, and Medicare subsidies, to name a few of the benefits that could be affected. The White House is justifying the move as a way to limit immigrants who would be considered to be a drain on the economy. But The timing also suggests the administration considers there could be an electoral upside to pushing a tough message on legal—as well as illegal—immigration.

The proposal, which will be open to a period of public comment before being implemented, amounts to a rewriting of a 1999 rule. Under that regulation, those receiving cash benefits have a lower chance of receiving a green card. But it didn’t take other non-cash benefits into account. The new rule would “ensure that those seeking to enter and remain in the United States either temporarily or permanently can support themselves financially and will not be reliant on public benefits,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a news release. Any changes are likely to result in court challenges.

This actually makes sense. Why would we issue Green Cards to people who are immediately going to feed on public assistance? That expands the debt and takes away from Americans who need these services.

As I predicted, so it is going to happen: Interment camps for children in Texas.

A New Tent City in the Texas Desert and Other Changes Being Imposed on Migrant Children in the US

The number of detained migrant children in the United States has increased more than fivefold since last year, and their plight in this country is not getting any better.

This needs to stop. Where is the right to life people? Is this life? Is this God's will for these children? These children are treated like cattle. This is America's new shame! CM

Yes, it does need to stop. People need to stop breaking the law and coming here illegally. Then all of this will end.

Treated like cattle? Let's cut the over emotional hyperbole please and stick to facts. They are NOT being treated like cattle.

America needs to create a path toward citizenship, over building a wall and return the children to their parents and take this shame out of her face. CM

Really the parents should all be charged with child abuse for forcing their kids to go through this ordeal.

Hmn ... it is already possible for people to become a US citizen; in other words, "a path toward citizenship" already exists. Unfortunately, there are quite many people who pursue illegal paths ... some involve their children in hopes of "forcing mercy"

Given you seem to be a very concrete-literal person in your understanding, If I am to take your point, above, at face value, you're admitting that America is neglecting and or abusing some 13,000 children many, in tents, in Texas with no schooling for them. What is this, America's new slavery? America will pay for this in more ways than one. CM

I am condemning the parents' illegal attempts using their children for their own illegal activities.
In cases where the children are USA citizens while the parents are not and have mistreated their children in order to illegally gain citizenship outside the legal path, one could argue that the USA official are actually providing care - as much as is currently possible - to these USA citizen minors in a situation into which they were thrown by their irresponsible parents.

    This is unchristian and inhumane.

The parents have behaved unchristian and inhumane ... and irresponsible to the degree that now officials may consider them unfit to responsibly care for their children.

    Germany has more heart.

What you deem to be "having heart" seems rather warped and outside any legal standards.

You seemingly have not the slightest idea about Germany ... here, the "Jugendamt" (office responsible for affairs involving minors) would already have taken full custody of these children, the only way for the parents to regain custody being taking up the office in court.

A child is best cared for with his/her parents. Proven research.

Many denied the opportunity to seek asylum or to see an immigration judge. You're
    "condemning the parents"? Reconsider, Sir.
