    Brothers,

Let's stay focused. News about Guns in the USA, OPPOSED BY THE NRA:

    Read it for yourself: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/walmart-joins-dicks-in-raising-minimum-age-to-buy-firearms-to-21-2018-02-28

Walmart joins Dick’s in raising the minimum age to buy firearms to 21.

    1. Walmart Inc. and Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. said they would no longer sell guns to anyone under 21 years old, as two of the country’s biggest gun sellers tightened their policies in the wake of a high-school shooting that left 17 people dead in Parkland, Fla.
    • Both retailers said Wednesday they were making the change in light of the tragedy. “We take seriously our obligation to be a responsible seller of firearms,” Walmart WMT, -1.65% said in a statement.

    • Building on our 2015 decision to not sell modern sporting rifles, we announced important changes today:

    • Raising the age for purchase of firearms and ammunition from 18 to 21 years old

    • Removing online items resembling assault-style rifles
    1. Students return to School today. Let's keep them in prayer.
    2. Mr. Trump met with Dems and agreed, for now, to increase the age limit for purchasing AR-15 in which the NRA is opposed. Stay tuned...CM

I'm opposed to this change. So they can fight a war at 18 but can't buy a gun? That's ridiculous.

    Brethren,
Would it be nice if the supporting Christian members of the NRA to leave this organization? Let them keep their guns, but LEAVE this organization. Where will they go-- "The Lord's Army". Stand with the students, the families, and change. Will nothing change in gun deaths? Do it anyway! What think ye? CM

Actually I might join the NRA.

    @GaoLu said:
Yawn. Appease liberal stockholders. Nothing really changes. No one, and I mean probably no on earth is really going to care or be affected. We need to do something meaningful.

Actually people are starting to boycott Dick's which is a good move.

I can see a couple of reasons why Christians should not belong to the NRA. How can you preach Christ to those who resist the NRA's political impact? Also, if madness is in people's hearts while they live, i.e., all but the born again are crazy, and the born again are in a continuing state of recovering sanity, why arm anyone???? And insist on keeping them armed? Shouldn't we be beating our swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks?

That's just dumb Dave. The NRA is not evil.

Explain how the NRA is evil. I have been asking all of you to do that and not one of you has actually taken up that challenge. Name one thing that the NRA does that is evil. What I really think is that you probably don't know anything about the NRA and just assume you know what the organization does.

Does the United States follow the Sermon on the Mount? Do you have fellowship with the United States?

What kind of car do you drive? Does that company follow the sermon on the mount?

What food do you eat? Do the farmers follow the sermon on the mount?

Do you see how ridiculous your reasoning is here? Definitely not Biblical.

Technically, the NRA is a church or assembly (secular usage) that teaches against the Sermon on the Mount by promoting the use of weapons for violent ends. And we should steer Christians into following the Sermon instead of violating it.

No. That is not correct and shows you know nothing about what you are talking about. The NRA does NOT promote the use of weapons for violent ends.

You are correct! The Biblical terms ἐκκλησία Ekklesia(Greek) and קהל Kahal/Kehilla קהילה (Hebrew) basically mean convocation, congregation, or assembly. And, the Greek term Ekklesia that is usually translated as Church was used for secular assemblies as well.

Using weapons to "defend the Constitution" is not a violent end?

I think you said the NRA exists to defend the Constitution a few times. But what can this mean other than using gun violence if necessary? And what if they think to defend it against the God appointed Civil Magistrate? Would you approve of this?

They are a political lobby group. They support legislation to protect the 2nd Ammendment and provide benefits to their organization members. They aren't a vigilante group as you have tried to put forth, they don't advocate violence, they advocate for legislation. Good grief. So here we have wasted over a week of your nonsense because you don't even know what the NRA is or does. Do some research.

Why all the weapons of mass casualty if merely a "lobby" group? Shouldn't Christians abstain from the presence of evil?

What about: "The Second Amendment Isn’t About Hunting or Self-Defense, But Revolution
After Orlando, some are calling for stricter gun laws, or even a repeal of the Second Amendment. But gun rights and liberty are inseparable."

I don't understand what you are saying or asking here. Please explain...

What about: "The Second Amendment Isn’t About Hunting or Self-Defense, But Revolution

?? What are you talking about and where is that coming from?

After Orlando, some are calling for stricter gun laws, or even a repeal of the Second Amendment. But gun rights and liberty are inseparable."

    the federalist website

It is true that gun rights and liberty are inseparable. Not sure what that has to do with your points about the NRA.

I noticed you didn't actually address what I said. And if Christians are to shun violence that means we can't eat meat either. You should be very careful about theology that isn't found in Scripture.

How does eating rabbit square with the Sermon on the Mount? Or eating fish for that matter?

How does the NRA square with the Sermon on the Mount? Would you support the violent overthrow of a "tyrannical" government (appointed by God) as the NRA would?

Here is what the Apologetics Study Bible has to say about it:

These are not absolute commands but illustrations of loving one’s enemies (v. 27) and dealing with others as one would desire to be dealt with (v. 31). They are stark and concrete examples of the general principles of non-retaliation, impartiality, generosity, and graciousness. The examples are radical and thus intended to shock the audience to consider the radical nature of Jesus’ ethic; they were not intended to be applied unthinkingly. Thanks. Interesting. But the Sermon is about loving Jesus and all he taught more than we love our own families and our own lives.
